Put Your Make-Up On!

Hey guys!  We are trying out hardest to have a steady post schedule but it seems like our blog is being neglected and life is taking a front row seat.  I am still interested in doing beauty reviews and have quite a bit of stock, there just seems to be zero time to do any of it unfortunately.
I've been busy with juggling work, friends, family, and travel that there's been no time for the blog in which I'm hoping for that to change here in the near future.
With all of that under the belt, what I'm reviewing today isn't beauty related but travel-related... and let me tell you, this is a sight you will not want to miss.

Carters Beach is arguably the most beautiful spot in not only Nova Scotia but Canada, located in Queens County just off of highway 103 in a small town called Port Mouton.
This beach is actually a  3-in-1 in which all 3 are easily accessible at all times. When the tide is in, you are anywhere between knee or waist deep of water to the second and third beaches.

Not only did I first notice such white sand, but also the amazingly clear water.  I'm telling you.. even down south has some competition with this beach. =]

This picture was taken at the first beach.  You can see the piece of land which appears to be an island (and I'm pretty sure it is at high tide).  It is still easily accessible but full of rock at least on the edges.  I didn't go on the island as I wasn't wearing appropriate foot attire.  Maybe next time.

This one is a closer up of the second beach taken on the first beach.  You have to cross that body of water to get to the other part. You can also wait an hour or so and the water will go out, so you can just walk on the sand over.

Everything about Carters Beach is absolutely stunning.  Even the way the water moved the plants was amazing.  Head on over to my vimeo account to watch some videos that I've uploaded.

This is from the second beach and easily the prettiest as well.  Even though there's seaweed all over the beach it definitely adds to the beauty of it all.

Something to be cautious about is I've been told that there are a lot of Jellyfish around the beach.  However, I had the pleasure of meeting these lovely little birds.  They run around and play on the shoreline and beach.  Don't underestimate their little legs because they can run!  I have posted a video on my vimeo channel for your viewing entertainment.

The first beach has a background of marshland and grass, the second and third beaches have sand dunes as their background, adding to the already breathtaking scenery.

If you're looking for a spot to bring your children, go kayaking, take your dog for a walk, or to just get some R and R, look no further.  This place is for sure not to disappoint with its crystal clear waters and amazing scenery that you will not regret!  I definitely give me visit a 10/10 and if I could go higher, I would.
Summer is definitely here in full force and I can sure feel it! I've been so busy between work and trying to do everything I can possibly manage in my already hectic days.  Needless to say, it's been one amazing season so far and hoping it will just keep getting better. ;D
haha see what I did there? yah that was a little bit cheesy, okkkay moving on!

Some of the highlights so far has been going to a campground called Rissers provincial park with a group of friends, getting a new phone, GoPro session, and practicing on my brand new SUP.

If you ever find yourself traveling to Nova Scotia, one place you do not want to skip by is the south shore.  The south shore is notorious for their white sand beaches and one of the more popular ones is Rissers beach. This beach offers you white sand like you get down south and it's also a campground! Now I don't know about you but this offer really can't be beat. But wait, it gets better! There is an amazing boardwalk that is everybody's favorite and if you walk it at night during sunset you can capture some amazing pictures!  There is a little canteen area where you can order lunch and ice cream.  There is also a public washroom and shower to prevent all the sand getting into your car afterwards.

And then this happened
Okay, so the phone wasn't exactly a planned thing.... Turns out my old phone was in quite a rough shape and once it dropped that was the end of it.  Now, I've been contemplating on switching over to apple since I've only ever had an android phone and this seemed like the perfect opportunity because this was such a good deal.  I've only had it for a short period of time but so far there are absolutely no regrets.

The SE is short for Special Edition, it has the outer casing of the iPhone 5s but all of the interior and specs as the iPhone 6s, therefore making it the iPhone SE.
When picking a phone out, I look at the quality of the camera as well as how much space is in the phone.  This particular one has a capacity of 16gb and a 12mp camera.  Not to mention it's also a lot faster than most other phones on the market.

The camera has the option to do panorama, which is awesome!!! except you need a super steady hand or else it doesn't turn out very well!  :(

One downfall for Apple phones is that your storage capacity is internal and can't be extended.  With that being said, this phone is far more superior from my last phone the Samsung galaxy s3.  I'm sure there's more features to explore and talk about but I'd rather just cut this short and say it is definitely worth it 100%.
I came upon some extra funds and was recommended to the GoPro so I decided to check it out for myself.  I'm not much of an extreme sport kind of gal so I picked out the lesser expensive of the others.  This was my first mistake.
There's only 2 buttons on the entire device.  Now maybe it's just me or the camera is faulty but when I go to press power it automatically starts recording which is normal. However shortly after, it stops on me out of nowhere and I lose my footage.. which is quite frustrating to say the least.  so I reset it and the same thing happens again.

The main purpose for the camera is to take video but it does have the option to capture images as well.  I think the only option for stills is the fisheye.  That doesn't bother me but might some.  The picture looks amazing and crisp until you zoom in and then you'll see the picture getting really blurry and pixelly.
This camera in particular is able to go into the water without having a case on it, however it does require you to get a floaty so it doesn't sink.
All of my GoPro videos are on Vimeo and blogger doesn't embed videos from Vimeo so I'm just going to link you my account and you can check them out.  Ps. there's a cool jellyfish video on there so I really suggest you check it out. Click here.
The video quality is pretty amazing, it transitions from lighting in a quick hurry and captures really fast too.
Overall, when this camera does decide it wants to work it's pretty quality but when there are other action waterproof cameras on the market for cheaper and same if not better, it's hard not to pass up the other ones.
I'm not sure if mine is faulty or GoPro really does suck.  Realistically speaking, *if* my GoPro is faulty and I were to do it all over again, I'd invest in the more expensive one with the screen so I can actually see what I'm doing.  *if* it isn't faulty and is just that, GoPro sucks!
I'm going to have to get back for results once it gets looked at.

And then there's this buddy. I've been spending most of my free time on my Stand Up Paddle Board.  SUPs have been all the rave and I decided to jump on the bandwagon, this and I want some challenge in my life (it's kind of perfect).  You use this like a kayak except you stand on it, if you're not comfortable enough you are able to kneel and paddle or even sit.
A few of my first concerns was that I wasn't going to be able to stand up properly for the longest time and my balance.
What actually happened was I found it extremely difficult to switch the paddle from one side of the board to the other.  You need to be able to do this in order to paddle forward.  The first couple of times it was wobbly standing up and staying up for long periods of times but I didn't find it as difficult as I had expected it to be.
One tip that is crucial in SUPing is that you need to have your legs bent at the knees to promote your balance substantially.
This is a fantastic beginner board but if you are interested in getting your own board I strongly recommend you do your own research beforehand because every board is made for not only height and weight specifications but also on how you plan on using your board whether it be in rough terrain like an ocean or smooth terrain like a lake.

Guys, I've had such an amazing summer and I am so sorry for not keeping up with the blog!  I haven't even had time to use any of my products that is a huge collection just collecting dust! We haven't forgotten about you, things have been super busy and that was quite the update haha.  I'm hoping to get back at it very soon!
Hey guys!  Today I'm going to review a shampoo that I've been using for the past little while and let me tell you, this is something you do not want to miss out on!

Curly Wurly is a targeting shampoo for people who have curly hair, however I would recommend this shampoo to anybody who loves coconut and treating your hair with a lot of love!

Thank you Sash!
This shampoo only comes in one size of 220g, for anybody who is familiar with Lush products is the larger container, for an outstanding price of $26.95CAD before taxes.  The Lush shop that I was in had one on display and I could smell the coconut from a mile away.  I had to have it even at that price.  Being skeptical on whether I've wasted my money or not, I would soon find out.

The directions are right on the container but the amount of what you use be adjusted to your length and thickness of hair.  I wasn't sure what a 'small amount' meant to Lush.  I then started experimenting with it and now what I do is use 2 fingers as a scoop and gather I would say about a tablespoon of the product and lather into my head completely.  I found that you don't get a really big lather but that doesn't affect the performance.
Pro tip: to expand the life of your product, wash your hair every second or third day or use it once a week while using regular shampoo the other days.

The smell of your hair when you get out is so great that I don't want to mix it with any of the oils I put in after, and sometimes I actually don't.  Once my hair is dried, the coconut smell is still there!  Amazing!
I'll pair Curly Wurly with any conditioner I'm using at the time, currently I'm using Whole Blends conditioner in coconut water and vanilla milk and I'll use a generous amount with it.
One thing I didn't notice from this shampoo though is that I don't see much difference in my curls.  I'm not sure if this is the shampoo or that my hair is so long and it's weighing down and spreading out my curls.  This doesn't affect my overall rating as that's not the reason why I bought it.

One thing I was actually quite skeptical about before actually buying the shampoo was how am I going to get the coconut out?!  I had just one idea and if that didn't work, well I was stuck with coconut chunks in my hair until they fell out naturally(which could take forever).  My brilliant idea was to use my detangling hair brush directly out of the shower to get the coconut out.  Could you believe it actually worked!  I allow my hair to air dry and I've only once or twice noticed a few stray coconut chunks.

Pros:
  • Moisturizing
  • Great smell
  • Shine
  • Coconut
  • Doesn't require a whole lot of product
  • Versatile for different hair types
  • Makes your hair clean and fresh
Cons:
  • Coconut chunks could be hard to get out
  • Pricey

I've had Curly Wurly for about a month now and have gotten approximately a third of the way through it.  This means that I should be able to make a container last around 3 months.  With a ratio on the price and how long I'll have it until it runs out and the quality I would say that it is definitely worth the extra money.  I think I've found my shampoo for life!
I was attracted to this particular mask because I've never used a hydrogel mask before and the picture looked so weird.  TonyMoly has yet to let me down but I wasn't sure what to expect from this one.  Let's hop right into the review.

The packaging was bigger than my face, it's massive!!

If it weren't for the pictures, I would have no idea how to use this mask. Even though it's applied just like your standard sheet mask, it does suggest you leave it on for 20-40 minutes which is longer than the suggested time on your regular sheet mask.

So on the back it tells you what the mask is supposed to do for your skin, the ingredients as well as the directions.  It's supposed to make your skin look clear and transparent.  I'm not sure how the transparent part works, maybe they mean clean?  Silly Koreans.

I wasn't sure what to expect mask wise and didn't know whether it was going to be what the picture on front showed.  Turned out that it actually was.  Hello creature from Saw.

Even though you just apply this like any other standard sheet mask, because it is more gel based than others I found this to be more flimsy and sticky than any other sheet mask.  This should be put on in a room with no fan blowing or any type of wind blowing your way.  When it's on I would also suggest laying down as it is heavy for a sheet mask and will keep it in place longer instead of standing up or walking around would. So after about half an hour I decided to take it off and rinse.  I didn't notice any immediate results but after I freshened up I did notice my skin to be lighter and have less blemishes.

Pros
  • Cheap price
  • Subtle smell
  • Skin brightening
Cons
  • Sticky
  •  Heavy
For my first time trying a hydrogel mask I can't say I was seriously impressed nor was I disappointed.  Once I can get the hang of using them and get the full effect I'm sure I'll grow to love them more and more. I bought mine at roseroseshop for a fairly decent price.  You can probably get this on amazon, ebay or the actual tonymoly website.

Back in December I received a gift card to Victoria's Secret! I'm not big on lingerie or bras (as I don't wear bras) but I do love their body care lines and decided to spend my whole entire gift card on them.

When I went in the mall to buy my lotions back in January, I wasn't sure what I was going to find and what I was going to pick up. I went to one of the largest Victoria's Secret in the city of Vancouver and to be honest they didn't have a wide variety of their body care products. There was a whole entire area dedicated to it but I guess because they were switching products for the season there wasn't much to choose from.

When I went in I wasn't even sure what I was looking for. So I started browsing around and found the Fantasies Fragrance Collection and I was immediately drawn to them by their sweet but somewhat 'spicy' smell.

The fragrances I got were Dream, Coconut Passion, Passion Struck, Rush, and Exotic.

Out of all of them I would have to say Coconut Passion and Exotic are my favourites out of the five that I got. Coconut Passion has the nice smell of coconut with a hint of a grapeseed and vanilla to it which is reaaaally unique. I try not to use that one as much because I love it soooo much but it's so hard to resist!

Exotic is velvety and enticing made with sea salt and iris, which I also don't like to use a lot of unless I'm feeling sexy or want to have more of a mature smell on my skin besides the fruity scents that I'm usually drawn to.

To be honest without the fragrances I wouldn't buy these lotions. They are average at best. I only use these after my showers and they do the trick, but it's more so for normal skin and not something you'd put on dry, flaky skin. I don't think the fragrance would be good for really dry skin and would stick to something more natural with less chemicals and more with essential oils.

Other than that, I can't get enough of the smells and they would be great for date meeting friends, going out for dinner or a night on the town! They're great if you don't want that overly perfume-y smell (which sometimes even drives me crazy even though I'M the one who's wearing the perfume).

Hey, and 5 for $35 isn't a bad deal!

I believe these products are no longer available except for the Passion Struck and Exotic on their website.
Hey guys! Since I enjoyed doing my first empties post so much, I decided to keep saving my empty containers and make another post once I've gotten enough to make it a little cluttered!
Initially, I had quite a few more empty conditioners and shampoos but seem to have misplaced them.  They'll come in the next post though.

I go through conditioner like it's nobody's business.  I will go through 3 bottles of conditioner before my first bottle of shampoo typically.

  • Down Under Argan Oil Therapy Conditioner
  • Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner
If you're looking for a sweet smelling conditioner, the Argan oil is where it's at.  This left my hair feeling soft with a touch of shine.
I used the Herbal Essences conditioner when I realized I had ran out of all of my big bottles and had no other option.  I used a few full bottles of this years ago, it's a good conditioner that smells of coconut.

  • L'oreal Hair Expertise Total Repair
I used this along with my other lotions and creams in my hair after every shower, religiously.  It smells fresh and fruity.  This does a great job at preventing split ends I found.

  • Welcos Merit Miracle Argan Treatment Oil Perfume
I used about 4 squirts of this after every shower.  I liked this so much so that I ordered more but a different scent.

 Now onto the makeup products.

  • Yves Rocher Felt Tip Eyeliner 12H
I rarely use eyeliner but when I do, I will only use a felt tip liner.  This particular one was great, it was dark as dark and went on very smooth like all felt tip liners I've used before.  I'm only tossing this because I've had it for so long that it's expired by now.

  • Too Faced Better Than Sex
Even though this is just a sample sized mascara it's my favorite mascara ever. I bought the full size and am able to now throw the sample out!

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
My favorite primer.  After using this my mascara stays on and vibrant even into the following morning if I had forgotten to remove my makeup before sleep.

  • Welcos Merit Killing Me Zombie CC Cream SPF30 PA++
I'm so happy that I ordered the full size before Roseroseshop took it off of their website!  If you're looking for a light foundation with decent coverage that will morph into your skintone, look no further!

  • A'Pieu Smart Speeder Stick Foundation SPF30
I'm so sad that I haven't ordered this again before it ran out :( .  Fortunately I am pretty sure that I can find a foundation stick local to hold me over until I order more in!  This is a great foundation stick that will help significantly get rid of any blemishes on your face prior to your foundation application.  This is great to blend in because it goes on so creamy.

I wish I had found the rest of my empties to share but this much will have to suffice for now!
